- ''s. [hon.]'' A devotee of the Saiva religion and a poet. He flourished during the reign of அரிமர்த்த பாண்டியன் of Madura, and with அப்பர், சுந் தரர், and சம்பந்தர், destroyed Buddhism in Southern India. His compositions, consisting of hymns, and ''mantras,'' are considered by Saivas, as of divine au thority and are called திருவாசகம், or sacred words. Those of the others, தேவாரம், or sacred hymns. From the place of his nativity, he is also named வாதவூரார்.
