- s. (contr. of போழ்து) time, பொழுது; 2. (with a participle) when, while; 3. a flower bud. It signifies never when joined with உம் followed by a negative as in அவன் ஒருபோ தும் வரமாட்டான், he will never come. அவன் வருகிறபோது, when he comes. முன்னொருபோது, at a former time. அப்போது (அப்போ), இப்போது, எப் போதும், see, அப்பொழுது etc.
- irreg. v. i. (போந்தது or போர்ந் தது, போதும்) go, pass, செல்லு; 2. be enough, be sufficient, adequate, பற்று; 3. (in some connec.) be respectable, மதிக்கப்படு. போத, adv. (inf.) sufficiently. போதக்கொடுக்க, to give as much as is sufficient. போதாத நாள், unlucky day. போதாது, it is not enough. இருவருக்கும் போதாது, it is not enough for both; 2. both are on bad terms. போதாமல், without sufficing. போதாமை, insufficiency, displeasure between persons. போதுஞ் (போதுமான) சாட்சி, a competent witness. போதும், it is sufficient, it will do. "போதுமென்ற மனதே பொன் செய்யு மருந்து," "a contented mind is a continual feast" (Proverb) போதுமென்றிருக்க, to be content. போதும் போதாது, it is scarcely enough. போந்த (போர்ந்த) fit, suitable, competent. போந்த காலம், proper time. போந்த திரவியம், sufficient money. போந்தபடி, போதுமானபடி, sufficiently. போந்த மனுஷன், a competent man.
