Dictionary Meaning of செந்தமிழ்நாடு

வைகையாற்றின் வடக்கும் மருதயாற்றின் தெற்கும் மருவூரின் மேற்கும் கருவூரின் கிழக்கும் ஆகிய செந்தமிழ் வழங்கும் நிலம். (தொல் சொல்.400, உரை.) The country of the standard Tamil, said to be bounded on the south by the Vaikai-yāṟu, on the north by the Maruta-yāṟu, on the east by Maruvūr, and on the west by Karuvūr;

-செந்தமிழ்நிலம், ''s.'' The Pandyan country, Madura and the parts around, where Tamil was spoken in its purity, பாண்டிநாடு; which is stated in the following stanza- சந்தனப்பொதியச் செந்தமிழ்முனியுஞ் சௌந்தரபாண்டியன் எனுந்தமிழ்நாடனும் சங்கப்புதல்வருந் தழைந்தினிதிருக்கும் மங்கலப்பாண்டி வளநாடென்ப.
