செம்மொழிச்சிலேடை பிரிமொழிச்சிலேடை என்ற இருபிரிவுடையதாய் ஒருவடிவாக நின்ற சொற்றொடர் பலபொருளுடையதாக வரும் அணி. (தண்டி.75.) 1. (Rhet) Paronomasia, figure of speech in which a word or phrase admits of two or more interpretations, of two kinds, viz., cem-moḻi-c-cilēṭai, piri-moḻi-c-cilēṭai; piri-moli-c-ciletan

சிலேஷை, s. a rhetorical figure in which a word or a phrase is capable of a double interpretation, a pun, உபயார்த்தமுள்ளது.

[cilēṭai ] --சிலேஷை, ''s.'' A figure of Rhetoric, a paronomasia, in which a word or phrase has a double meaning; a pun, a quibble, உபயார்த்தசொற்றொடர், as நீர்வாரும், which may mean, come thou, or pour water. See அலங்காரம். W. p. 866. S'LESHA. --''Note.'' There are two kinds of சிலேடை. viz., செம்மொழிச்சிலேடை, பிரிமொழிச்சிலேடை, which see.
