Dictionary Meaning of சடங்கு

சாஸ்திரவிதிபற்றியும் வழக்கம்பற்றியும் அனுஷ்டிக்குங் கிரியை. மறையவன் சடங்கு காட்ட (கம்பரா.கிளைக.81). 1. Rite, ceremony;
முதற்பூப்புச் சடங்கு. சடங்கு மாதங் கழிக்கு முன்னாம் (தனிப்பா. i, 378, 21). 2. Ceremony performed at the pubescence of a girl;

குண்டுக்கட்டாய்க் கட்டும் மற்பிடி வகை. சடங்காகப் பிடித்து உயிர்போக நெரித்துத் தொலைத்த மல்லாடலும் (சிலப்.6, 49, உரை). A variety of wrestler's grapple, probably forcing a person into a ball-like position;

s. a religious ceremony, outward rite observance, செய்முறை. சடங்காக, to arrive at puberty as a girl. சடங்கான பெண், a girl who is come of age, or has attained puberty. சடங்கு செய்ய, to perform a ceremony. சடங்குக்காரன், a ritualist (chr. us.) சடங்கு கழிக்க, to celebrate with the prescribed ceremonies the puberty of a girl.
