Dictionary Meaning of கும்பி

s. mud, mire dirt, சேறு; 2. hot ashes, சுடு சாம்பல்; 3. the belly, வயிறு; 4. a heap, குவியல். கும்பிநாற்றம், see கும்பநாற்றம், under கும்பு III. v. i. கும்பியை நிரப்பப் பாடுபடுகிறான், he is toiling to satisfy the belly. கும்பிடுசட்டி, (prop. கும்பியிடுசட்டி), a glodmith's a fire-vessel; a chaffing dish. அடுப்புக்கும்பி, heated ashes of the oven. பாழுங்கும்பி, hideous abyss used figuratively for the hungry stomach.

VI. v. t. (கும்பகம்) suppress the exhaling or inhaling of breath as yogis do.
