ஐ உ எ ச ட த ப தெய்கதி, அ ஈ ஊ ஏ ந ண ந ம மக்கட்கதி, ஒ ஓ யரல ழ ற விலங்குகதி, ஜ ஒஉ வ ள ன நரககதி செய்யுண்ண்முதன்மொழிப் பொருத்தங்களுள் ஒன்று. (வெண்பாய், முதன்18, Rule of propriety which enjoins that as the letters of the alphabet are divided into four gati, viz.,
