குறித்த மெல்லின இடையின மெய்யெழுத்துக்கள் தமக்குரிய மாத்திரையின் மிக்கொலிக்கை. (நன். 92.) Lengthening the mutes ங், ஞ், ண், ந், ம், ன், வ், ய், வ், ல், ள், ஃ after one or two short syllables for the sake of metre, as in கண்ண், இலங்ங்கு, the said consonant being doubled in writing, to indicate the prolongation, one of ten cārpeḻuttu, q.v.;
