Dictionary Meaning of அஷ்டமூர்த்தம்

பூமி, நீர், தேயு, வாயு, ஆகாயம், சூரியன், சந்திரன், ஆன்மா. (பிங்.) The eight forms of Siva, viz.,

''s.'' The eight forms assumed by Siva, spiritual and natural, regarded as his bodies.
or மூர்த்தம், 8. The eight forms assumed by Siva in mani festing his nature and perfections: 1. பூமி, the earth; 2. நீர், water; 3. தேயு, fire; 4. வாயு, wind; 5. ஆகாயம், air; [These five are also called, பஞ்சபூதம், five elements.] 6. சூரியன், The sun; 7. சந்தி ரன், the moon; 8. ஆன்மா, the soul.
