Dictionary Meaning of உறி

பண்டம்வைக்கும் பொருட்டுத் தொங்க விடும் உறி. உறித்தாழ்ந்த கரகமும் (கலித். 9, 2). Hoop or a network of rope for placing pots, and suspended by a cord from the roof of a house, from the hand, or from the end of a pole carried on the shoulder;

s. a hoop or a course net-work of rope for hanging pots on; தூக்கு. உறிகட்ட, -போட, to construct such a net-work of ropes. உறிக்கலயம், உறியடுக்கு, a hanging repository of kitchen utensils. உறிச்சமணர், Jain asceties who sit in swings, so that they may not tread upon insects.
II. v. t. same as உறிஞ்சு.

[uṟi] ''s.'' A bow or hoop, in which to place a pot suspended by a string from the roof of the house, from the hand, or at the end of a pole carried on the shoulder, தூக்கு. உருசைகண்டபூனையுறியையுறியைத்தாவுகிறது. The cat which has tasted nice things will continually jump on the shelf; i. e. stolen goods are sweet.
[uṟi] கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, ''v. a.'' To snuff up by the nose, &c.--as உறிஞ்ச. 2. To sip up, suck up, to take in by draughts.
